Statistics / Correlation and Regression

Data recorded simultaneously on two variables for each unit are called:

  1. Univariate data
  2. Time-series data
  3. Bivariate data
  4. Secondary data
Show answer and explanation

Answer: Bivariate data

When two measurements x and y are recorded together for each unit, the observations are pairs. Such data are called bivariate data.

Business Mathematics / Mathematics of Finance

At 12% per annum simple interest, a sum amounts to Rs. 55,000 after 10 months. What will the same sum amount to after 22 months at the same rate?

  1. Rs. 60,000
  2. Rs. 61,000
  3. Rs. 66,000
  4. Rs. 55,000
Show answer and explanation

Answer: Rs. 61,000

Under simple interest, A = P(1 + it). After 10 months, 55,000 = 1.10P, so P = 50,000. After 22 months, A = 50,000 x 1.22 = Rs. 61,000.

Business Mathematics / Basic Concepts of Permutations and Combinations

Evaluate 15C4 - 14C3.

  1. 1,001
  2. 1,365
  3. 2,002
  4. 3,003
Show answer and explanation

Answer: 1,001

Using Pascal's identity, 15C4 = 14C4 + 14C3. Therefore, 15C4 - 14C3 = 14C4 = 1,001.
